Manic Monday Minute

Manic Monday Minute is a serious mind-dump that will probably take you one minute to read. Here are some thoughts going through my head right now...

This is the Manic Monday Minute...
  • Spoke in Southwest Virginia this past weekend.
  • It was a short stint in the mountains but a good one.
  • I met a young man who was booked to sing in the weekend services. I thought his voice was a dead-ringer for Josh Groban. I asked him to sing "You Raise Me Up..." He nailed it!
  • Our family has been celebrating the end of my mother's cancer treatments. However, mom has been battling an infection over the last week. Please pray with us for healing.
  • I'm hooked on the show Big Brother.
  • It only comes on one time each year...
  • Why is it that the best shows get canceled or only come on once a year?
  • A number of the nominees at the Emmys on Sunday evening were shows that have been canceled.
  • I still haven't seen Toy Story 3, Shrek or Inception... Been too busy. I think I just made my Labor Day plans - that is, if they are still in theatres?
  • So we have a hurricane coming our way. Here's the current track...
  • Saw this video this week and can't stop laughing at the voiceover.
  • A friend of mine texted me Sunday morning and said her little boy asked for Chicken McNuggets for breakfast. She couldn't help but laugh...
  • Foursquare just celebrated its 3 millionth user. I'm not one of them...
  • Don't miss the Manic Monday Minute. Get the feed [here].
  • I've had a lot of meetings via Skype this last week. Got to love technology.
  • If you are a youth worker, please chime in here...
  • Had hoped to make Catalyst Atlanta this year. I'm not sure I will due to budget cuts.
  • The line-up is pretty amazing. You can check it out [here]
  • I can never seem to get caught up on email. No matter how hard I try I will never get it zero'd out. =(
  • Apparently I'm not the only one... How's your inbox looking?
  • I thought Pete Wilson was joking when he said he knew Taylor Swift. Apparently not.
  • Looking forward to the weekend. Hope to enjoy a little R&R on Labor Day...
  • Thanks for spending a minute with me.

Manic Monday Minute

Manic Monday Minute is a serious mind-dump that will probably take you one minute to read. Here are some thoughts going through my head right now...

Welcome back to the Manic Monday Minute...
  • Had a VERY busy weekend. Our church had a three-day event for our community.
  • I spoke in the weekend services.
  • Spoke on the the faith of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Loved putting together that message.
  • We had a TON of first time guests in our services this weekend.
  • Getting settled into my new role this week at ChurchLeaders.com.
  • Have you checked out the site yet?
  • Someone else told me that they submitted my name & photo to ABC to be the next bachelor.
  • Have we connected on Facebook? Make it happen [here]
  • Steven Tyler is the new judge on American Idol? really? I'll take Paula Abdul over Steven Tyler anyday.
  • Lord help me if I ever complain about a traffic jam again. China just reported having one that lasted 9 days long (over 62 miles in length!)
  • I hate canceling appointments. I am a man of my word... if I say I'm going to do something - I do it.
  • Don't miss the Manic Monday Minute. Get the feed [here].
  • Next week I'm announcing a big giveaway I'm doing. I cannot wait!
  • I heard Betty White is coming to town in a few weeks. I'm gonna try to meet her. She just picked up an Emmy for hosting SNL.
  • Is Youth Ministry in decline? Great post by Marko here.
  • Possibly the most awkward thing I've done in a while... but I had good intentions.
  • Help one of our local schools win $500,000 [details here]
  • Looking forward to speaking in Southwest Virginia this weekend.
  • My friend Tony Nolan and I are apparently becoming tag-team partners. =)
  • If you are a youth worker, please chime in here...
  • Thanks for spending a hot minute with me.

I'm Joining the Team @ ChurchLeaders.com

It's official.

I've been asked to join the amazing team at ChurchLeaders.com.

Just days ago I told you about the new site for church leaders, and after several weeks of conversations & prayer with the management team I've been hired as the very first channel editor.

My role at ChurchLeaders.com will be giving oversight to the Youth Ministry channel and I'll be working along with the amazing senior editorial team to help deliver the best content on the web to you. I am deeply honored (and humbled) and couldn't be happier about this new opportunity.

My passion for helping resource & encourage leaders, particularly youth workers, has been growing for years and this is one way I feel I can contribute to the Kingdom in a tangible way. I'll be periodically pointing you to the site from my blog and will continue to share more exciting news with you along the way.

I'm very excited to see what other opportunities God has in store. I would especially like to thank my dear friends, family, and ministry partners for your amazing support over the last few months as I've sought direction for my next steps.

**Update**
This is a part-time role. I am still on staff with Crossroads in a part-time role. I will also continue my intinerant speaking ministry.

Bill Hybels Latest Work

I have a list of books that I want to read right now... and this one just worked its way up to the top of that list. Bill Hybels latest work, WHISPER, has captured my attention. It's all about God speaking to his people. I talk to people a lot about how God speaks to me... and sometimes, quite frankly, its hard to explain. You just recognize it when He does speak to you. This is the same way Hybels explains it in the promo video for his newest book, "The Power of a Whisper." I cannot wait to read this book!
What book is at the top of your list right now? And have you read this one yet?

Manic Monday Minute

Manic Monday Minute is a serious mind-dump that will probably take you one minute to read. Here are some thoughts going through my head right now...

Welcome back to the Manic Monday Minute...
  • Took nearly a two-week hiatus from blogging due to lots of travel and some vacay lately.
  • Also cut back on the number of blogs I've been reading.
  • About to dive into reading another book. What are you currently reading?
  • This is a very slick edited mashup of Up and Inception trailers. Loved it.
  • I saw Dinner with the Schmucks yesterday with friends. Funny... but very weird too.
  • My mother just finished up her chemo and radiation treatments this past week! Woot!
  • Loved this great reminder I got from a child today.
  • I watched the finale of the Bachelorette tonight. Haven't watched this season but caught the last show tonight.
  • Someone told me that they submitted my name & photo to ABC to be the next bachelor.
  • Have we connected on Facebook? Make it happen [here]
  • When I hear the song "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan I think of puppies now.
  • Don't miss the Manic Monday Minute. Get the feed [here].
  • Had some friends treat me to dinner on Friday and lunch on Sunday. Such nice gestures.
  • Lady in the Starbucks line the other day bought the person's drink behind her. She was having a crappy day and said "let me turn it around." Now that's the ticket...
  • Was very impressed with this 13-year-old's run-down of the movie "The Blind Side."
  • Our church lost one of its founding members over the weekend. Heaven definitely gained a dear saint.
  • Craig Groeschel is now on twitter.
  • My friend Tony spoke on the Casting Crowns tour and saw over 43,000 people accept Christ. Here's a video of the message he spoke on that tour. I love me some Tony.
  • A pack of cigarettes just started following me on twitter. How is that possible?
  • Thanks for taking a hot minute to read this.
