I thought... "Hmm, I don't know. If I played the lottery I don't think I'd use number 15. Not that there's anything wrong with number 15... I just wouldn't play that number."
I didn't know until today what these numbers stood for. Do you?
When I sign-on to Facebook I see people swapping cows, chickens & sheep. It's funny to me. Perhaps one day I'll buy the farm. I have to get a car first though.

I found this mug for sale in a store last week while shopping. Notice how the word "MERRY" is spelled: M-A-R-R-Y. Yea, somebody got fired. Er... maybe got a raise. I mean, I bought it after it made me laugh out loud. Somebody's getting this for Christmas.

My phone rang the other day and it was 2007 calling.
Actually, I was on the phone with my mother and I saw that I had an incoming call. When I looked to see who it was calling me the caller ID displayed "2007 calling." Freaky.
I should have answered the call. However, I sent it to voicemail and continued the convo with my mom. After I hung up the phone with my mother I checked my voicemail and there was no message. I tried calling 2007 back... and got an error message.
I laughed over the whole ordeal because it reminded me of the sketch-- I think from Saturday Night Live -- about a certain year calling and "wanting things back..." Do you recall these sketches?
I thought it would be entertaining if you help fill in the blank here.

A friend of mine in college use to wear a shirt and tie to class a couple of days a week. It was very odd to me seeing how most of the students wore t-shirts and jeans or even pajamas to class. One day I actually stopped him and asked why he did this. He replied "I'm in the zone." I said "what the heck does that mean?" He continued to explain that when he dressed up for class he recognized that he paid closer attention to the professor and his performance was much better. Sometimes taking a few practical steps like this can help you focus, get you centered and you take your performance to a whole notha level. So what puts you in the zone?

I'd like to provide you, o blog reader, with links to goodness: Here are some things I ran across in the last few days...
This is a great article on how to take your low-traffic site to a whole notha level. What trips me out most about his site is that if you check out the number of readers (according to feedburner) on his site its 6 billion (thats right, you heard me). Isn't that like the number of people on planet earth? ;=)
Loved this post about book titles. very creative. very funny!
A very thought-provoking, heartfelt-yet-controversial post from this guy (who is actually posting final messages to his blog this week).
Congrats to Dabo Swinney Clemson's new head coach! I heard he attends this guy's church.
I literally don't enjoy my day as much when this guy doesn't post (its like my cup o java first thing in the morning). It is my favorite blog to read... and not just because he is my friend. Can't wait for the next post...
My good friend Josh is now doing movie reviews for YouthMinistry.com. He just reviewed Twilight, a movie that I don't mind mentioning that I enjoyed.
I would have had more links for you but most blogs were very inactive this week... What did I miss?

The secretary is out of the office. I opened today's mail at the church. Few bills, magazines, regular junk... and, an invitation to another church? Weird I thought. Our CHURCH just got invited to attend another CHURCH.
What if...we closed OUR church doors this Sunday and attended THEIR church? I think that would be another taste of The Kingdom.

One of the greatest gifts God has ever given me was calling me to get my undergraduate degree from Columbia International University. It was there that I met David Olshine, the chairman of the youth ministry division. Olshine was one of two godly men who mentored me while studying there and to date he has been one of the most invaluable friends I've ever had. Periodically he gives me a call to check in and see how things are going and those calls, even though sometimes short and sweet, mean more to me than he'll ever know.
Today David is celebrating his Birthday and I wanted to thank him for his investment in my life. Would you do me a favor and help me fill up his email box with Birthday greetings? Just take a moment and say "Happy Birthday David" or maybe a simple "Thanks for investing in youth workers and hope you have a great Birthday!" Guys like this don't get thanked much... and their work for the Kingdom is invaluable!
Additionally, you might like to know of a great service David offers. He has established a coaching organization designed to help resource churches and para-churches. From counseling to consulting, David and his partner in this ministry, David Burke, do it all. You can check out their services here.

I received a call from a friend in New Orleans, LA yesterday who told me that he was not able to access my site because his internet filter would not allow him to because the site contained pornographic images. He and his wife contacted their provider and protested the block. It's wonderful to have such devoted readers. :=) I also dropped an open letter to the provider to protest the block and received an email back from their wonderful support team letting me know that my site is being investigated for porn before they can remove the block. I thought I would take this opportunity and deliver to you, my faithful readers, my no porn promise:

It doesn't seem right for me to be praying for the good of my stock portfolio when little Johnny on the other side of the world won't have anything to eat for dinner tonight.
Lord help us to care. Help us not forget that even though our economy has taken a plunge we still live in the richest nation there is.

Contemporary belgian artist Wim Delvoye tattoos shaved pigs in Beijing, China. He decorates them with smiling faces, Louis Vuitton logos and various words. Art collectors can buy the pigs and pay for their upkeep or purchase their tattooed skins after the pigs pass away, paying up to a few thousand dollars.
Here's a short vid of his handiwork:
I think Wim also gets gratification from inking his name on a pigs body.

No, not really... but I wanted to after I read Esquire magazine's list of 20 Best Steaks. M M M ...
Little known fact about me: Steak is my favorite. Steakhouse of choice? Regularly I visit Outback. While the best steak I've ever had hasn't come from Outback, it is still a place I frequent. Name the place where you've eaten the best steak...
It's Kem's 40th birthday this weekend. So her husband and a friend have hijacked her blog and her twitter account and have her weekend packed with lots of activities to celebrate her big day.
